Social Links

If you've played Persona, you knew it was coming--and if not, well, hold on tight! It's time for...

Social Links!

For those familiar with P3 and P4, please be aware that we're doing thing somewhat differently from how those games handled them. As such, please take the time to read this quick explanation!

A Social Link is, essentially, a measure of the strength of your connection to another person--and, in Paracosm, specifically to other Persona-using individuals (i.e. cast members). The more you interact with a person, the stronger your connection to them will grow.

Your social link is not a measure of how much you like someone, but rather, to what extent they’ve affected you. When a social link is at Rank 1, it’s someone you’ve met and are acquainted with; at Rank 10, it would probably be fair to say that without them, you wouldn’t be the person you are today (for better or worse).

This brings us to three fairly important points:
1) Social Links advance fairly slowly. Declaring your undying love for someone won’t suddenly max out the strength of your link with them. (Though it might give it a sharp boost--particularly if they reciprocate the feelings… or embarrass you in front of your peers).
2) Not all interaction is equal. Having lunch with someone won't strengthen that bond nearly as much as asking them out on a date... or picking a fight with them!
3) Social Links virtually never go down. Having your heart broken doesn’t lower your social link with the culprit, it raises it.

With that out of the way, let's get down to how to fill out your very own Social Link sheet!
First, you'll want to head to the Social Link Spreadsheet. At the bottom, you should see a list of the arcana (Magician, High Priestess, Empress, etc...). Use this to select yours (using the right/left arrows if necessary).

Under the various arcana, you should see a series of entries stating “0.0: “. As explained on the spreadsheet itself, the number is your social link’s rank; after the colon, you can put a sentence or two explaining your thoughts about that person. For example, you might, in your entry for The Devil, put,
“2.4: Wow, this person sure likes butts.”
This would show that your social link is somewhere between rank 2 and rank 3, and what your character thinks about that person

Then just follow the link on your spreadsheet, and behold the lovely visual display!
